She is an apprentice to Lazaro Alfonso of Irakere in Miami.Ī 1.5 hour Salsa On2, Beginner Level 2 class for the dancer that is looking to refine and evolve their skills by pursuing some more diverse and challenging training in footwork, turn/spin technique, partnerwork, body movement and more. Renée began this exploration in Albuquerque, New Mexico under the guidance of Pilar Leto and has studied in Matanzas, Cuba with Grupo Afro-Cuba and Los Munequitos. Renée Chavez, born in San Rafael, New Mexico, is a Miami based artist who has studied Afro-Cuban dance, song and percussion for over 30 years. Renée will take us through this beautiful and diverse dance for an hour or more and class will finish with some Salsa footwork or partnerwork with Sara and Andre. Renée will discuss the cultural significance of these Orishas and how they pertain to Cuban culture, religion and dance. every 2nd Monday of the month, we diversify ourselves as dancers! Join Renée at 6:15 for Afro-Cuban dance that will delve into the intricacies of Rumba Guaguanco in addition to learning some of the traditional Afro-Cuban folkloric dances of the Orishas.

During her time in San Diego, she had the privilege of training and dancing salsa and bachata with the following high energy performances and competition teams Amicita, Alma Latina S.D., Majesty in Motion and a number of ladies styling teams. Latoya Ferguson began her dance journey in San Diego, CA in 2007. Latoya will work with you across 4 weeks to develop, strengthen, and progress Leads and Follows technique and skills with spins and turns.įor smooth and stable solo spins and spins with a partner The Wednesday Workshop Series for July is set and ready to continue diversifying and adding to your dance repertoire!!
